Backend Developer 

Location: Fulltime - Remote

Vocana is your opportunity to be on the ground floor of a new and exciting indie-centric social music streaming platform. At Vocana, we connect indie artists directly with their fans in one space. Our platform is a unique music fan experience with a full streaming service, social media suite, live streaming, print-on-demand merchandise, tip jar, DM’ing with fans and artists, and commenting/liking on music.

We are seeking a Backend Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate MUST HAVE a deep understanding of the independent music community and a proven track record in creating and implementing consumer-centric services and applications.

As a Backend Developer, you can work closely with a tightly integrated and fully remote Agile development team to develop brand new code following modern architectural strategies such as Micro Services, Micro Front Ends, Test Driven Development, and DevOps.

 

As a team member, there will be opportunities to learn from and collaborate with other team members, implementing and integrating a unique combination of third-party services and technologies in an AWS environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, iterate, and ship robust, high-quality, functional, and efficient solutions.

  • Collaborate with the product, design, and platform teams to implement and deliver complex and scalable applications.

  • Active participation in Agile Ceremonies (i.e., Stand Ups, Planning, Retrospectives, etc)

  • Providing input and technical suggestions for requirements

  • Implementation and maintenance of functionality as defined by a User Story

  • At least daily submission of code to the common code repository (CodeCommit)

  • Bug investigation and fixes to code deployed in Test, User Acceptance Testing (and eventually) Production environments

  • This project tech stack includes Python, AWS, and PostgreSQL.

  • Work closely with our near-shore development team

Qualifications

  • Passion for indie music and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within this space

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of software development experience.

  • 3-5 years of experience working with Python, Postgres - SQL, Django REST framework, (AWS) CDK environment, Cognito, RDS, and Elastic Container Services.

  • A four-year computer science or software engineering degree is preferred.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

  • Proficient time management and organizational skills required

  • Understanding of project management concepts to ensure projects stay on task and meet deadlines regularly
